At the cabinet, I work until end of the year, when I will definitely stop working. It is not an easy decision, because many children have been helped through my therapies at my cabinet. Some are totally rehabilitated and others are being rehabilitated.
This decision was made also because a law that came into force in December 2016. By that law, my services have been reduced, they can no longer carry out a series of services, they are provided only by another category of psychologists.
So at present I can provide certain types of service, which are usually long-lasting and very demanding psychological but also physically . That’s how I got tired and frustrated. The services that are better paid, is forbidden to do so, so I only have less paid services.
From the profit, I could barely pay the rent and the other expenses and very little money remained to me as a profit. I feel like I cannot go any further.
That’s why I decided to stop.
Parents who have children in therapy have been guided to other cabinet, so they will continue rehabilitation elsewhere.

Wat hier aan vooraf ging
In de loop der jaren heb ik een grote betrokkenheid gekregen met Roemenië en heb ik meer en meer inzicht gekregen in de gevolgen van de praktijken van Ceauşescu en de zijnen. De sporen die het regime van toen hebben nagelaten in het dagelijks leven van vele Roemenen zijn diep. De gevolgen zijn ernstig: natuurlijk materieel, maar vooral geestelijk en sociaal.
Tijdens een van de reizen naar Roemenië heb ik Elena (Mirella) ontmoet. Haar echtgenoot is voorganger van een opvangcentrum waar de “minsten” (zoals genoemd in de Bijbel Matheus 25:40) samenkomen. De “minsten” zijn in dit geval voornamelijk voormalige kindertehuis bewoners.
Uit eigen ervaring weet ik dat een groot deel van deze “minsten” niet ongeschonden uit hun verleden zijn gekomen. Veelal met trauma’s, wel bekeerd en gedoopt, maar net begonnen aan de wandel met de Heer. Een wandel die Paulus zo treffend typeert als vernieuwing van het denken (Romeinen 12:2). Een verandering in de eerste plaats geestelijk, maar ook op sociaal, didactisch en cultureel vlak (denk hierbij bijvoorbeeld aan de Roma zigeuners en hun kinderen).
Met als één van de gevolgen dat zij niet in staat zijn hun kinderen goed op te voeden en op die manier een “normaal’ toekomstperspectief te bieden. De, voor ons “normale” ontwikkel uitgangspunten en randvoorwaarden, ontbreken daartoe.
Mirella heeft de visie en het talent om de kinderen van deze groep “minsten” op te vangen en de broodnodige, fundamentele begeleiding te geven. Van zeer nabij constateer ik dat haar visie en aanpak werkt en tot bijzonder goede resultaten leidt. Zij doet dit al voor een kind dat ik goed ken!.
Maar er zijn nog zoveel meer kinderen die een goede (zelfde) kans verdienen.
Navolgend een gedeelte uit een mail van Mirella
“I’m 47 years old and I am Special Education Need Teacher. It is a profession and a recent specialization for a country like Romania. This is because Romania was a country dominated by communism for 45 years and this specialty has been almost nonexistent. Although there were psychologists before the revolution of 1989, but Ceauşescu, the former communist dictator found that people are “perfect” in communism and do not need psychologists.
Therefore, even after the revolution, Romania still faces a lack of specialists in integrating disabled children in schools and adults are not helped very much to integrate into society. In this context, God has put in me the love for children in difficulty, so I finished university studies and I have a Master Degree to be a leading expert in the field. First I gave an exam to get into educational system and got a job at a school in a small town. I love what I do and despite the fact that after 20 years of learning in school, my salary is very small (300 euro), though I do my profession with great pleasure, as Christ taught (Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically as something done for the Lord, not for the men – Colossians 3:23).
But because God has invested heavily in me, I want to do more than that. Still from university I had on my heart, the vision of a social center where to take place several types of therapies, such as: – Speech therapy. – Occupational therapy, addressed to: children with sensorial problems, children with learning disabilities, children with autism, children with developmental disorders, children with mental or behavioral disorders, children with physical and motor skills, children with chronic illnesses. – Ergo therapy – activities involving manual activities: creativity, basketry, pottery, modeling, etc. – Physical therapy – for children with neuromotor problems. – Music therapy – for children with behavioral problems, autism, Down syndrome. – assistance Educational – for children with learning difficulties.
I started with small steps by opening an individual practice office, but I cannot accredit it, because according to the law I should have a battery of psychological tests. Either such a battery cost € 1.000, but I cannot afford such a sum, unfortunately.
Special attention area concerning schools and education: It is aimed at children between 6 and 12 years and their parents who have the following problems and needs:
- Have a low or variable school performance.
- The specific learning difficulties (eg, hardly reading, have poor results in mathematics, memorizes hard, cannot concentrate, etc.)
- The problem of lack of adaptation to the school environment (lack of motivation, anxiety, social withdrawal, poor communication, etc.)
- Want to improve their learning skills (e.g. listening skills and note-taking, organizing information, correct definition problems and solving their systematic strategies memory, attention span, analytical thinking, logic, etc.……….
Een goed idee en plan…
Maar dan is accreditatie dus een voorwaarde. En zoals zij zelf schrijft ontbreken haar de eenmalige financiële middelen om een onderzoek (tests) van de overheid te ondergaan. Bij goed gevolg krijgt zij als het ware de vergunning (= de accreditatie) om als zelfstandige dit werk te mogen gaan verrichten.

Langs deze weg doe ik een oproep om (als en soort van crowdfunding?) haar te helpen.
Ieder een deel, of één het geheel??!!
(N.B.) Mocht het benodigde bedrag overschreden worden, dan kan het meerdere besteedt worden aan het financieren van (een deel) van de exploitatie van het door haar nog op te starten bedrijfje.
